Personal quote – “Photography; the art of capturing how YOU see the world.”
“I graduated in web design and development back in 2009 but since the web industry had been moving so fast, it became hard to get first hand training with any companies. So I have chosen to go away from all that, take my own path and focus on my photography and some light graphic work.
After my studies at college I began using Photoshop to design my own desktop wallpapers. With these new skills I was able to apply myself to making designs for t-shirts and other products. This got me some recognition from bands who commissioned CD covers, logos and posters. I have also had work commissioned by a couple of web designers and a TV producer/artistic agent. Through this I have learned to work to a schedule and delivered the works by set deadlines.
I started photography as a hobby when I received my first camera as a gift in 2010 and got the shutter bug right away. It wasn’t until a year later when I received an upgrade (Fujifilm FinePix S2950 bridge) that I took my new found passion for photography and began to incorporate my pictures into my graphic design work. It wasn’t until January 2014 that i purchased my first DSLR and through the aid of books and video tutorials, i have learned how to push the limits of my knowledge even further with aim to create beautiful photographs.
I’ve been displaying my works on Red Bubble and Zazzle where I have received several feature awards and a high degree of positive feedback. I continue to use these sites today as i’ve found them to be really useful platforms to display my work to the world and to sell both graphically designed and photograph products from.
Since May 2012, I was offered the chance to gain experience in the field by freelancing with a Glasgow based lifestyle magazine and I had an ongoing contract with the owner of an online handmade jewellery store to be the sole photographer for her business, but the store has now closed and since then, i participated in a short course in photography with the Open University and have taken on a few projects, the latest being working with a local band.
I am exploring lots of avenues to gain more experience as I intend to take on more projects over the coming months. Thanks for reading”
